A 5" MERV 10 Self-Sealing High Performance Filter
Designed To Fit A 1" Air Filter Grille

  • Five-inch deep pleat filter that fits into most 1 inch return air grilles. No retrofitting or installing expensive “in duct housings” required.
  • Available in MERV 10 and MERV 11 efficiencies.
  • Self-sealing gasket eliminates air by-pass. (Find out why filter bypass should be avoided.)
  • Increased surface area provides extended lifetime.
  • Low-pressure drop reduces energy consumption and maintenance and extends useful lifetime of unit.
  • Available in 8 standard and non-standard sizes, up to 720 square inches.
  • Shipped to your customer, upon request.

no retrofitting

Now, homeowners can enjoy the benefits of a high performance filter without the hassle and expense of retrofitting, with the 5" MERV 10 high performance Practical Pleat. It's unique gasket fits into the one-inch filter slot with the excessive depth of the filter protruding in the duct system.

The self-sealing gasket prevents unfiltered air from by-passing the filtering process.

biological contaminants

Filters that are not self-sealing allow pollutants to be pulled around the filter, filter bypass, and into the ventilation system, escaping the filtration process. As these particles accumulate, they provide nutrients necessary for mold, mildew and other biological contaminants to breed and grow in the ventilation system. These biological contaminants can become airborne and be blown into inhabited areas. The Practical Pleat's self-sealing gasket adapts to imperfections in the filter track, eliminating filter bypass and preserving the integrity of the filter.

reduces energy bills

An accumulation of these contaminants on the evaporator coil inhibits heat transfer, which make s the unit work harder to heat and cool. In fact, a 0.05 inch build-up of contaminants on the evaporator coil can reduce efficiency and increase energy consumption up to 37% for that unit.

30x increased efficiency

The Practical Pleat can capture up to to 30 times more small contaminants than the standard furnace filter it is intended to replace. These filters are designed to protect the heating and cooling equipment and are really 'non-filters' from an indoor air quality standpoint.

433% greater surface area

In general, the more efficient a filter is at capturing particles, the greater its resistance to airflow. The Practical Pleat overcomes the increase in resistance to airflow, without sacrifcing efficiency, by extending the surface area of the filter.

The Practical Pleat's surface area is 433% greater than a comparable one-inch  extended surface pleat and consequently reduces resistance to airflow by 41%. This reduction in resistance to airflow reduces energy consumption, increases air circulation, increases efficiency, decreases maintenance and extends the effective lifetime of the equipment.

longer lasting

The standard one-inch filter needs to be replaced every 30 to 60 days, during periods of use. The Practical Pleat's extended surface area provides for an effective lifetime of up to one year.

merv ratings

Selection of air filters has been simplified by MERV ratings. MERV, Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, expresses the efficiency of a filter to remove certain particles fro an air stream. Filters with higher MERV ratings are more efficient at capturing small particles as they pass through the filter.

Filters are tested in accordance with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers Standard 52.2. To qualify for a MERV rating, filters are sealed into the filter frame to eliminate filter bypass, airflow around the filter or through and unintended path.

To benefit from the reduction of harmful contaminants that higher MERV ratings provide, self-sealing filters must be used. Otherwise, MERV ratings have no integrity and are of no value.

 automatic re-order available

Don't get caught with a dirty filter! Studies indicate that a well-maintained air filter in your home can save up to 4% on your heating/air conditioning bill. You can always have a clean filter when needed with the Consumer Filter Replacement Program.
